Angry Goat Pepper Co.- The Brand Behind Goat Rider Hot Sauce
I used to work in various industries such as transportation, food manufacturing, and print. However, I became tired of the politics involved in corporate life. My wife and I had a small hobby farm, and I wanted to find a way to make extra money. We started selling chicken, eggs, and goat meat at local farmers’ markets, but I realised we were missing something special. No one was selling spicy products.
During our honeymoon in Bermuda, we discovered pepper jellies being sold by street vendors. I loved the idea since I used to eat the spiciest wings with my friends in college. A few summers later, I made some pepper jam using extra peppers from our garden. Our friends loved it, but we didn’t think much of it until we started selling it at farmers’ markets.
Initially, we made pepper jam to complement our meats and other farm products. We started with three flavours and eventually expanded to six. We soon realised that the spicy industry was where we needed to focus. We reduced the number of animals on our farm and rented a commercial kitchen in a local restaurant during their off hours.
In August 2016, we leased our current location, which allowed us to have our own commercial kitchen and retail space. We opened a small retail shop in December 2016 to showcase our products, along with other spicy products made in small batches.
In September 2017, we launched our Parker’s Gourmet brand. We aim to bring an upscale version of our sauces and other goods to a wider market. This line will include 5+ hot sauce flavours, a few BBQ sauce flavours, and a few mustard flavours.
