How did it begin?
Most importantly Cooks Cabin is a family recipe. It originated in 1975, while the Du Plessis family was on holiday in Sodwana, they wanted to enjoy their fresh prawns and fish straight from the sea.
Chris(the founder) created a sauce that stayed in the family for years to come. Therefore he was getting a lot of requests from family and friends, so he quickly decided to manufacture the sauce and, after months of trial and error, the recipe was perfected. Cooks Cabin was born!
You can enjoy Cooks Cabin Sauces as a marinade, sauce, rub, dressing, basting or as a condiment to your meals and snacks. Marinade your meat, fry it with prawns, baste your roast or enjoy it poured over biltong; anything savoury works with Cooks Cabin HOT.
They have bottled the secret recipe in mild, hot and extra hot flavours to cater for every palate. Whether you’re able to handle the heat or prefer a more subtle hint, you can still enjoy Cooks Cabin flavour. Don’t forget it’s great for marinading your meat on a braii, and enjoying it poured over biltong. We recommend anything savoury but if you put it on anything sweet let us know how it tastes!
